REGIONAL EVENTS

FAC Regional Events

In 2023, the AfA Farm Animal Coalition (FAC) hosted its very first Regional Event in Viet Nam. With regional events planned in Japan, the Philippines, India and more, we aim to unite local and regional organizations. The events are unique opportunities to learn, network and amplify positive change for the animals of Asia, as well as deepen exchanges, share achievements, find support and elevate farm animal welfare activities locally.

The AfA Farm Animal Coalition (FAC) collaborated with two local organizations in Japan, Better Life for Farm Animals Japan and Animal Welfare Corporate Partners, to host a groundbreaking symposium on farm animals in the country. This online event drew the participation of more than 50 individuals from non-governmental, non-profit, and corporate organizations. The Regional Event provided a platform for 10 speakers representing animal welfare, environmental protection, veterinary, animal rights institutions, and researchers to present their work and establish valuable connections through the event and the subsequent in-person networking dinner session in Tokyo.

FAC Regional Viet Nam - June 2023

FAC Regional Viet Nam 2023

From June 23rd-24th 2023, The Asia for Animals Coalition (AfA) Farm Animal Coalition and six other co-organizers co-hosted the very first in-person Farm Animal Coalition Regional Event in Hanoi.

This conference was the first of its kind in Vietnam dedicated to animals being farmed for humans’ food. During the two-day event, key stakeholders from the business sector, government agencies in agriculture, and NGOs joined together and engaged in a lively discussion about the current situation, challenges, and opportunities for future collaboration towards better welfare for farm animals in the country. Topics of discussion covered in the conference included farm animal protection policies, the welfare of aquatic and land animals, strategies to raise awareness of consumers and businesses, and alternatives to animal products.
